The statement confirmed that King Charles III has started "a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties".

It is expected that other members of the Royal family will assist with public-facing duties, while "His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual."

As well as voicing the King's gratitude to his medical team, the announcement also highlighted that the Monarch is "wholly positive about his treatment" and is looking forward to "returning to full public duty as soon as possible".

The revelation of King Charles III's cancer diagnosis has prompted widespread concern and support from people worldwide - from world leaders to the general public.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, expressed his sentiments, saying, "Obviously, like everyone else, shocked and sad, and just all our thoughts are with him and his family. Thankfully, this has been caught early."

Nevertheless, questions have been raised about why Buckingham Palace has opted to keep the King's specific type of cancer a secret.

Fortunately, The King's former communications secretary, Kristina Kyriacou, has provided reasoning for this.

Speaking on UK TV show Good Morning Britain on Tuesday morning, hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley asked Kyriacou why certain details are being kept from the public.

But Kyriacou was fully supportive of the Palace's working, explaining: "I have to say, I wouldn't open the door more. They've said a form of cancer has been found, and I personally wouldn't have advised you go further and say what type of cancer. I think there's plenty of time for that.

"The trouble is, the more information you give, the more people speculate.

"The second they know what kind of cancer it is, everyone starts looking it up, people start Googling and they say I know someone and this happened to them, this is what he'll be going through.

"We know that he's ill, he's got a type of cancer and it's going to be treated."

In other news, it has been reported that Prince Harry is on his way back to London to be with his father at this time.
