A lucky player has won the $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot that was sold in New Jersey.

On Tuesday night (March 26), the ticket holder - who hasn't been named yet - claimed their victory in New Jersey, lottery officials confirmed per CNN.

The Mega Millions website revealed on Wednesday morning (March 27) that the winner matched the white balls 7, 11, 22, 29, and 38, as well as the gold Mega Ball 4.

The odds of winning the grand prize are 1 in 302,575,350, according to the game.

This is the first time a player in the Garden State has won the Mega Millions jackpot in almost four years. The last instance occurred in July 2020.

Per PEOPLE, the prizewinner claimed what's believed to be the fifth-biggest score in the lottery's history.

The $1.13 billion jackpot is for a winner who is paid through an annuity, with an initial payment and then 29 annual payments. Most winners choose a cash payout, which would be $537.5 million.

"Congratulations to the New Jersey Lottery for selling a jackpot-winning ticket in Tuesday’s $1.13 billion Mega Millions drawing,” Georgia Lottery President and CEO Gretchen Corbin, lead director of the Mega Millions Consortium said. "We celebrate our new jackpot winner, as well as all the prizes won and dollars raised for good causes during this exciting jackpot run."

The website explained that because jackpots are based on actual sales, the official winning ticket payment will be finalized after sales from all 47 participating jurisdictions have been confirmed on Wednesday.

In addition to the jackpot, 12 players - one each in California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio and two each in Florida, Georgia, and New York - matched all five white balls to win $1 million. Another player in New York also matched all five white balls and the Megaplier to win $3 million.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Before Tuesday's drawing, the jackpot was last won on December 8, when two winners in California matched all six numbers to snag the $395 million prize.

Furthermore, the record $1.602 billion jackpot was won in Florida on August 8, 2023 - which was the world’s largest lottery ever won on a single ticket, as reported by ABC News.

The next drawing will be held on Friday (March 29) when players will try to win the estimated $20 million grand prize, which carries a cash option of $9.5 million.
