It's been roughly a month and a half since Halsey and G-Eazy announced their split and fans are still shook. Sharing a one-year whirlwind romance, the famous couple had quickly become a fan favourite and, although they had only been together a short amount of time, everyone was pretty gutted when they parted ways.
The couple's relationship came to a public end with a short statement posted on Halsey's Instagram story back in July. "I normally keep this kind of thing private but provided our public nature I feel the need to inform my fans," it read. "G-Eazy and I are taking some time apart. I’m eager to continue the upcoming passage of time dedicating myself to my art and my career, and the duration of my tour. I wish him the best. Thanks for respecting our privacy at this time."
Nonetheless, ever since the relationship was proclaimed to be over, fans have been questioning the whole thing. Was it really all over? Just like that? Well, the break-up announcement is made, the Instagram couple pictures are deleted, the fans are in mourning, but a picture on social media recently seemed to suggest that things haven't yet come to a complete end...
On August 13, G-Eazy uploaded a picture of himself getting a tattoo to Instagram; in it, the American rapper is seen staring down at his arm as it is inked by a tattoo artist in a baseball cap, with a picture on a piece of paper on the side. All pretty innocent stuff, right?
However, eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that if you zoomed into the image, you would notice that G-Eazy was getting a picture of a beautiful woman put on his arm. A beautiful woman who looked suspiciously like his celebrity ex-girlfriend...
Immediately after noticing, the star's followers became overexcited, flooding G-Eazy's comment section with mentions of Halsey. "OMG THATS HALSEY!!!" wrote Instagrammer @spammm_acc2. They were joined by @hananimahmudz who put "Please say that was halsey????" as well as @constancewren who commented saying "@n8dubayou i need g easy and Halsey to get back@together. This stress is to much for me".
However, not everyone was sold on the idea that the tattoo was of the Him & I songstess. In fact, in the comment section, there were a fair number of people who shunned the idea, with @victoriamusic91 writing "Omg you are all cray cray it doesn’t really look like Halsey at all and if it is let the man enjoy his past! Privacy is an issue with celebrities, let em breathe!" and @the_silent_one91 putting "Anyone that thinks that’s Halsey is clearly off their rocker".
One day after posting about their break-up on social media, Halsey hinted that her former boyfriend may have cheated on her, with a tweet that read "pumpkin eater" which many suspected harked back to the saying "cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater".
Nonetheless, a source apparently told Us Weekly that long distance was the real culprit in the split, saying: "They tried to make the distance thing work, but the two of them are both super engaging and interactive people and it became too difficult for them to sustain a balanced and healthy relationship when they were spending so much time apart."
So, why did the superstar couple break up? Did G-Eazy really get a tattoo of Halsey? And if he did, what does it all mean?
