'Selfie Kid' from the heroic Super Bowl meme speaks out on what's really going on

The Super Bowl has made a habit of giving birth to sensational memes over the last few years and this year was no different. Whether it's dancing sharks, Gaga jumping off the stage or the recently discovered 'selfie kid', it is now customary that the half-time show delivers a meme for us all to laugh at for the following days.

As the city of Philadelphia continues to celebrate their record-breaking and momentous victory by looting shops and destroying their streets, Twitter has spent the day laughing at a kid who decided to take a selfie with Justin Timberlake.

Ryan Mckenna, 13, has transformed from a nothing kid to an internet sensation overnight after his reaction to taking an incredible selfie with Justin Timberlake during his halftime performance last night.

As with all memes of this nature, the internet instantly began the search to find out who the kid is. He was quickly found to be Ryan and he has now spoken out about becoming a viral sensation. Take a look at the now-infamous clip in question below.

Ryan appeared completely unfazed by the fact that one of the biggest pop stars in the world was performing right next to him and seemed more engrossed by what was happening on his phone.

The main joke seemed to be that he was Googling who Justin Timberlake was.

Despite the jokes, Ryan got a brilliant selfie with JT and told Twin Cities:

"It’s been so crazy. I don’t even know what to think. All my friends have been texting me and stuff. It’s insane. My phone is almost dead. I’ve gotten so many notifications. I’ve got like 36 Snapchats, like 21 DMs and like 150 follower requests on Instagram."

Ryan's dad, John, told reporters that he "couldn't believe the attention" that his son was receiving and that "never in a million years" did they expect that something like this would happen.

Ryan, who has now appeared on Good Morning America as part of his newfound popularity, said:

"It was already crazy to be at the Super Bowl in the first place. Then all of a sudden I’m up on the Jumbotron and everyone’s talking about me. I can’t believe it."

Ryan's dad says that they realised "very quickly" that he was turning into an internet sensation, saying:

"My phone started blowing up. It died, like, instantly after it happened. We had friends from all over reaching out. I couldn’t believe it."

Speaking live on TV, Ryan said:

"My dad told me he was coming around, so I went behind the people and I jumped in there and he’s kind of stopped where our row was, so I just had jump out there with my phone and try to get a picture."

The memes have continued to roll in throughout the day, with the below being just some of the best.

Comedy gold.

Ryan will now be the coolest kid in school and should spend some time basking in his 15 minutes of fame.
