As a Scottish man, my accent can sometimes give me an edge. There are plenty of people out there on the dating scene who find a Caledonian brogue pretty attractive and enjoy hearing some Scots colloquialisms.

On the other hand, I meet just as many people who can't understand a word I say, forcing me to repeat myself several times before they finally comprehend me.

America has a huge variety of accents, with each state having its own particular lilt. From snowy Minnesota to Louisianna, each state accent is unique. But which is the hottest? Well, according to a recent survey, Texas comes out on top!

Have a listen to what a real Texas accent sounds like in this video below:

A recent sample survey from Big Seven Travel of their 1.5 million social audiences ranked the top 50 sexiest accents in the US. According to them, an Texan accent ranked number one, just ahead of Bostonians and New Yorkers.

Their post noted: "Who can resist a slow, Texan drawl? Not us, and not our community, clearly. The typical Texan accent is a “Southern accent with a twist”, with strong ‘r’s and plenty of ‘Howdy’s’. America’s sexiest accent? We’d have to agree."

Sadly, the states with the accents that ranked last included Long Island, New Jersey, and Alaska. Sorry guys! Don't shoot the messenger!
