A woman has developed a new invention designed to prevent wrongful police shootings as a result of racial profiling.

Jackie Carter, a former resident of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, who now lives in DC, has created a special magnetic pouch she has dubbed the "not reaching pouch", which holds your driver's license and other documents in sight, in an effort to make traffic stops safer.

Commenting on her invention in a recent interview, Jackie stated: "In 2016, when we started having all of the issues with people being stopped by the cops and a few people who were killed as a result. It just bothered me ... What is it that makes police officers nervous during traffic stops? Reaching and that’s why we just simply named the product 'Not Reaching'."

Jackie learned that when drivers have both hands on the steering wheel during traffic stops, police officers were more comfortable as a result.

Speaking to NBC BLK, Carter said: "I'm more fearful [for my son] in a car here than [when he's serving] in Afghanistan.”

Commenting on the invention, Coatesville Officer Sgt Rodger Ollis told Fox 29:

"[Jackie] sent a sample and I looked at it and spoke to other officers and we felt it would be a good idea to make our community members aware that we have this product available free of charge. I just see it as a great opportunity to keep hands where we can see them and it’s a product developed by a Coatesville resident who cares and wants the best for our community and our officers."
