A man refused to divulge the real reason why he was constipated out of "embarrassment" and "fear of his wife".

Per the New York Post, the case of a constipated Iranian man was recently reported in an article published in the Clinical Case Reports Journal.

The article details how the 50-year-old married man turned up at the hospital with his wife, who had become concerned for her partner after he developed abdominal pain, constipation, and had stopped eating.

However, rather than come clean and tell staff what was causing his issue, he remained quiet until receiving a CT scan.

The article reports that the man inserted a plastic bottle containing 250mls of water into his rectum on February 10, 2022. It remained there for three days until his wife eventually brought him in to the emergency department.

Keeping shtum, the man underwent routine examinations - which all reported normal vital signs and no abnormalities.

However, upon having an ultrasound, it became clear that there was a foreign object present and he was taken for a CT scan of of the abdomen and pelvis. The bottle reportedly measured 193mm × 47mm and was inserted bottom-first with the hopes that he could use the narrow top as a grip for easy removal.

When doctors eventually figured out the issue, the man had a surgical consultation and was transferred to the operating room for surgery. Fortunately, the surgeon was able to slowly "drag" the bottle out without any ruptures or bleeding.

Five days later, the man was discharged from the hospital and referred to a psychiatric clinic.

Following a one-month check-up, it was determined that the man was back to normal health.

The report states that most foreign objects that are popped up the rectum are often to achieve self-gratification. "As a result, the instruments used by patients are usually smooth, rounded, cylindrical, or egg-shaped," the medical report adds.

The article even goes on to list common items that have been voluntarily used for "sexual stimulation", which include - and I can't believe I'm actually writing this - "plastic or glass bottles, cucumbers, light bulbs, as well as tube lights, ax handles, broomsticks, carrots, wooden, or rubber instruments."

So there you have it. An important lesson that you should never keep things from your wife.
