Anyone will tell you that politics can divide friends and family, making what should be a pleasant dinner into a truly tense affair. Conflicts like these have been apparent for many Americans for centuries, but things have got more intense over the last couple of years.

Even in the lead-up to the 2016 election, many simply could not understand why their family members would vote for Donald Trump, while others didn't have a clue why anyone would go for Hillary Clinton. After the election saw Trump win the presidency on November 8 2016, many families had to then go to Thanksgiving, knowing that there was a lot of resentment among various people at the table.

The same thing goes for dating. There are plenty of people out there who would be seriously put off a potential partner if they started talking proudly of their support of the Trump administration, but no one wants to go through that awkward conversation. Luckily for them, someone has seemingly solved the problem.

At first glance, the site looks like a pretty standard dating platform, but usually, politics don't factor in quite so heavily into dating website genres. With this new website, people can date knowing full well that any Trump supporter won't be allowed to join.

The Hill reports that a political startup named the American Liberal Council has launched a site named 'NeverTrump.Dating', which aims to allow people to "escape Trumpism with an enlightened lover".

According to the founder of ALC, Ted Brown, the purpose of the site is to allow those who have similar politics to meet and stand up against Trumpism. A statement on the site reads:

"Our Democracy can still be saved. But first, we must find those with like-minded beliefs, and join those who stand for tolerance and justice for all.

"We need allies who will never back down to the corrupt, morally-bankrupt administration in power, and we can do that right here.

"Skip the awkward political conversations, and know where your future love stands from the get-go, liberty and equality are making a comeback on NeverTrump.Dating!"

For those who didn't know, this is actually a rival site to one that was making the news recently. 'Trump.Dating' was discovered in late February, and didn't exactly have a controversy-free beginning. The website claims to be the place where you can find "The America First Partner of Dreams" by "matching patriotic and politic viewpoints as a base foundation of the relationship".

However, people weren't happy when it was revealed that the site only allowed straight men and women to join up, willfully excluding the LGBTQ community entirely. On top of that, it was revealed that a man wearing a Trump baseball camp, appearing as the lead image on the site, was actually a convicted child sex offender.

So, while NeverTrump.Dating might not be your cup of tea, it seems to be having a much less rocky start so far.
