The internet is, at first glance, a fantastic fountain of knowledge. But, glance again and you'll see that the World Wide Web practically defines the word "idiotic". Case in point: Viral challenges.

Viral crazes have seen human beings act like utter morons for years now, and while it seems we should have learnt our lesson by now, we most definitely haven't.

Take the latest viral challenge going around on the internet, for example. If I asked you if you thought it was a good idea to jump out of a car, would you do it? Probably not. However, if I asked you if it was a good idea to jump out of a car in the name of a viral challenge, would you do it? Yes. You would.

The brand new trend originates from Drake's track In My Feelings which comes off the rapper's new album Scorpion. It all started when American comedian Shiggy posted a video of himself hilariously dancing to the chorus with the caption "KEKE DO YOU LOVE ME?" He called his elaborate dance "doing the Shiggy".

While the boogying in the footage was initially pretty tame, things soon became a little crazier when NFL player Odell Beckham Jr. posted his own video. In his Instagram post, he was seen hopping out of a car and doing a similar dance on the pavement, also to In My Feelings. "Happy 4th!!! This how I’m Pullin up to the bop-bop-barbecues all day! ??? @theshiggyshow Everybody get crazy wit it and hashtag #DoTheShiggy legggoo @theshiggyshow," he captioned it.

Soon enough, a whole host of A-listers had picked up on the craze, including Will Smith, Ciara, DJ Khaled and Charlamagne Tha God.

Unsurprisingly though, the idiotic people of the internet seemed to think the viral trend needed to up its game, and hundreds of people soon began filming themselves throwing their bodies out of moving cars. How we got from "doing the Shiggy" to throwing ourselves out of moving vehicles, we will never know. You can always trust people to take things too far, huh?

While the craze has delighted some people online, others have been left completely disgusted by the foolish, and downright dangerous, fad.

"Drake and Shiggy got people letting their kids jump out of moving cars to do a dance. Never forget," wrote Twitter user @Cizzurp215. He was joined by fellow user @landoughcal who posted saying "Never in the video Shiggy did for In My Feelings did he ever jump out of a moving car yo" and @gingerpatch420 who tweeted: "I really hope these dumb bitches doing this "shiggy challenge" thing start getting run over by their own car. We really don't need people that stupid breeding".

So, so far we've had guzzling tide pods, dousing our bodies in lighter fluid and immolating ourselves, snorting condoms up our noses and throwing ourselves out of moving cars (among several other witless challenges). What next? I don't know if I want to be around to see it, if I'm completely honest.
