Meghan Markle's sister is writing a revealing memoir about her sister titled 'The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister'
Just ten years ago, American actress Meghan Markle was a "briefcase girl" on the game show Deal Or No Deal. Now she's engaged to Prince Harry of Wales, and about to become a real-life princess. People are so excited about their relationship that forensic artists are imagining what their kids will look like. Everyone has fallen in love with the new royal couple.
Well, almost everyone. Meet Samantha Grant, aka Samantha Markle. She's Meghan's half-sister, from her father's first marriage. At age 52, she's 17 years older than the soon-to-be princess. Samantha's a former actress and model, who currently lives in Florida. In 2008, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, binding her to a wheelchair.
When Meghan and Prince Harry's romance was revealed, Samantha made some salty comments to the media. She called her sister a "shallow" "social climber" who "is not fit to be a member of The Royal Family." (Harsh!) Then she claimed her sister likes Prince Harry because she "has a soft spot for gingers." (Who doesn't?) Then she accused Meghan of not helping her out financially: "I didn’t feel a separation from her until I was in the wheelchair. The more high profile she became, she never mentioned me.” (At the very least she could've gotten her a cameo on Suits.)
However, after Meghan and Prince Harry's engagement was announced, Samantha had nothing but positive things to say. “I can see [Meghan] is just bubbling," she told Good Morning Britain. "When I watch her with him it’s very real and normal. We only get that once in a lifetime if we’re lucky." Then she left a message for her sis, saying "I’m incredibly happy for you...if I had a glass of champagne I would toast, but it’s three in the morning and we don’t drink at three in the morning!”
It sounds like the two sisters are all good now, right? Wrong. Samantha just announced she's writing a memoir bout her childhood memories growing up with Meghan. It sounds sweet, until you read the title: The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister. I know what you're thinking - that title's not very flattering. But it could have been worse. She could have went with her back-up title: Life's A Bitch, And So's Meghan.
In an interview with Good Morning Britain, Samantha defended her book:
"Well, it is true that I’m writing a book and the title is accurate, what is not true [is] this unbelievable swell that’s been created that it’s some sort of slamming ‘tell-all.
First of all, it’s only a tell-all in that I go through and recant some of the beautiful nuances of our lives, our family home. But more importantly, it has to do with the inter-racial evolution of this country through the lens of my life and my family since the Civil Rights Act until present, and how that intersects with this recent event with my sister, you know, my feelings about it, my family’s feelings about it, and how sad it was going through it all. But it’s more of a beautiful, warm, witty story of our lives and my life."
However, everyone on Twitter saw the book as more of a "cash grab" from a "money-grabbing leech."
"Why on earth are you entertaining such drivel from someone who hasn’t spoken to her in years? ? Haf sister? What a money grabber!"
"Why is Meghan Markle's half sister cashing in on her writing a book&speaking on @GMB. Disgraceful, disgusting shut ur mouth &respect family"
"The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister? Odd way to support family!"
Will the half-sisters repair their relationship? Will Samantha attend The Royal Wedding? Will Leslie Jones play "Princess Pushy" in the movie adaptation of her memoirs? Time will tell.
