After around five years of glorious fun and enjoyment, the PS4 has brought us plenty of great memories, but during an interview, Sony game designer (and lead architect on the project) Mark Cerny confirmed that the next generation of Playstation is on the way - and it'll be able to play all of your old games.
Speaking to WIRED, Cerny revealed that Sony's next-gen Playstation has been in development for the past four years, and will be backward compatible with a disk drive that can play all of your Playstation games. Even better, Cerny says that a lot of our favourite game developers are already working on new games for it.

While Cerny didn't talk too much about the software, what he did confirm was that the console will be kitted out with ray tracing tech in partnership with AMD.
To show off this hypothetical console's new features, Cerny reportedly fired up a copy of the Spider-Man game on the PS4. While the game usually loads in about 15 seconds on the PS4 Pro, on this new prototype console, the game loaded in just one second.

"As a gamer, it's been a little bit of a frustration that audio did not change too much between PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. With the next console the dream is to show how dramatically different the audio experience can be when we apply significant amounts of hardware horsepower to it."
While we won't be seeing this next generation console for some time (WIRED seemed to imply that it wouldn't be making an appearance at this year's E3 event), in the very near future, we'll have a better idea about what will be included in the PS5. I for one, can't wait.
