Soldiers in shootout with Easter Sunday bombing suspects in Sri Lanka
An explosion has been reported and soldiers were engaged in a live shootout with suspects allegedly linked to the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka.
Sky News reports that gunfire "erupted" during a security forces raid of a suspected bomb factory the town of Sammanthurai.
A spokesman said that there had been an explosion in the area, and when soldiers arrived at the scene to investigate, they were shot at.
No details of any casualties are immediately available.
More than 250 people were killed in the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka, which targeted churches and hotels.
