Man takes tuxedo-wearing llama as plus-one to his sister's wedding
You know, sometimes being invited to a wedding - particularly a family member's - can be pretty stressful, especially when you don't have a date. You're usually expected to bring along a plus one, and it can be a little bit mortifying when you don't have someone willing to dress up and tag along with you.
However, this week a Redditor has ended up going viral, after sharing pictures of the hooved and furry guest he took to his sister's wedding. Not only that, but the animal's fashion sense has to be seen to be believed. I'm not kidding.Previously, an alpaca was filmed spitting at TV presenter Philip Schofield:
It all began when Mendl Weinstock promised his sister Riva Weinstock while driving to Indiana five years ago that, if she ever got married, he would bring a llama along to the wedding with him.
However, his challenge was put to the test after Riva got engaged in October, with her nuptials scheduled for a lush ceremony in Cleveland on Sunday, March 1. He hired himself a llama, put it on a leash, and even dressed it up in a tailored tux to take it along with him.
Commenting on his scheme in a later interview with Insider, Mendl stated: "My sister was talking about her wedding as if it were tomorrow when she wasn't even dating anyone at the time."
He added: "Just to make her mad and get a reaction, I told her if she makes me come to the wedding, I am bringing a llama with me. After a few minutes of arguing, she tried to use reverse psychology on me and said, 'OK, the llama is invited to the wedding.'"
Meanwhile, Riva stated: "He has been torturing me with this, in good fun, and has been reminding me of this probably twice a week for the last five years. I have tried striking so many deals, I have tried doing literally everything possible to make sure it didn't happen, and lo and behold, there was a llama at my wedding."
She continued: "When he sets his mind to something, he makes it happen. Literally, I called him to tell him I was engaged and his response was, 'Great, I'm calling the llama farm now.' Probably not even an hour later, I got a text that said his llama rental was confirmed."
She added: "I promised him that I would take one picture. I said, 'I will not stand next to the llama, I will not touch the llama, but I will take one picture.' My friends can attest that I went outside, I took exactly one picture, and then I went right back inside and was not having any more of it."
Mendl later posted his single picture to Reddit, where it quickly managed to accrue over 154,000 upvotes. Perhaps if he ever gets married, Riva can take the llama out again?
