Transgender woman spends staggering $50,000 on surgery to look like Kylie Jenner

A high premium is placed upon beauty in all of its effervescent forms in our modern culture.

No longer is it acceptable to be a nice, normal looking person; now we must struggle endlessly to appear as glowing and radiant as the stars we read so passionately about on the covers of glossy magazines.

Beauty and the pursuit of it dominates our daily lives; be it through the filtered corridors of Instagram or on the runways of Paris, London, New York and Milan, there is basically no end to the affliction. Thus, we stagger our way through Instagram filters, plow through selfie after selfie in the attempt to appear as the best version of ourselves at all times.

There is, we now realise, considerable money to be made from a successful run on the genetic lottery coupled with an intuitive knowledge of social media and and a marketing genius of a mother; just asked the Kardashians.

The Kardashians have come to dominate popular culture in a manner hitherto unheard of; with millions upon millions hanging on their every word, voraciously consuming each piece of - let's face, often racy - content with an appetite that can never be sated.

Couple these two notions together: the high premium of beauty and the socio-econimic phenomenon of the Kardashian/Jenner family and you might arrive at the conclusion of Kyleigh Potts, a transgender woman who was spent a small fortune to look like Kylie Jenner.

For Potts - a resident of Denver, Colorado, her affinity with Jenner goes well beyond their shared first name. She has spent more than $50,000 in her pursuit of the Kylie look, starting with lip filler treatments three years ago.

This period involved an astonishing 40 procedures in an attempt to keep herself topped up.

Speaking of her own transitioning journey, Kyleigh Potts wrote on Instagram;

"I appreciate y'alls support, but I didn't just begin transitioning.

"I've been feminizing my face since 2014, and I started hormones June of 2016 and was on them for around 4 months.

"When my partner at the time found out, I quit for almost a year.

"I felt that I wasn't being honest with him and thought I could change his mind, but only ended up wasting both of our time.

"I began again this past June with the hormones as soon as we split up. And have been titrating up ever since.

"Be true to yourself, and don't sell yourself short. Even if that means being alone."

Potts also seems to have been understandably excited by Jenner's own exciting news - the arrival of her baby - as she took to Instagram to congratulate the new mother, writing;

"Oh My Gosh Congratulations to the Jenner-Kardashian family!!!! YOU DID EVERYTHING RIGHT FOR HER MAMMA!!!! So much respect and Love!!!!"

Congratulations to Kyleigh Potts on her own journey, and we hope the future holds happiness both for her, and her world-famous namesake.
