'Hot Felon' Jeremy Meeks reportedly earns $1m a month

Jeremy Meeks probably can't believe the situation that he currently finds himself in. The former felon, who has been convicted for a variety of different violent and petty crimes, is now one of the more recognisable faces in the modelling industry after a mugshot of him went viral on social media in 2015.

Dubbed the "hot felon" at the time, Meeks has now walked the catwalk for some of the biggest names in fashion and has been lifted to superstardom off of the back of his crimes. However, it's not all good news in Meeks' world: he is currently going through a messy and public divorce.

Meeks' estranged wife Melissa has made claims about the amount the model earns as their bitter divorce continues to rumble on in the public domain. Melissa reckons that her ex-husband makes around $1 million a month, and she is now seeking spousal and child support from Jeremy, 33, according to documents seen by TMZ.

Melissa has declared her income and says that her estimate is based on her ex's modelling contracts. However, as TMZ points out, it's not actually certain if Melissa had even seen her ex's documents when she produced the figure.

Melissa says that she makes $10,000 a month as a nurse in the Bay Area, with her monthly expenses totalling at around $11,000. The nurse was married to Jeremy for eight years before they split after images emerged over the summer of Jeremy kissing the lips of Topshop heiress Chloe Green.

The couple have seemingly been going from strength-to-strength since the photos appeared, with them being very public with their relationship, and Chloe has even met Melissa and Jeremy's seven-year-old son, Jeremy Jr. But despite this, Melissa is seeking sole legal and physical custody of the child. In court documents that were seen by TMZ, Melissa claimed that her ex "basically lives as a playboy with a rich girlfriend". She claims that her former lover now drives around in a $150,000 car and constantly wears expensive jewellery.

She also claims that the fame has "gone to his head" and has made him slack on his parental duties, saying that Meeks only manages to see their son "maybe 2 days a month".

Although the prisoner turned model made his catwalk debut at New York fashion week and has taken part in various photoshoots, his work has only been intermittent since his release from prison. But Melissa says that despite the fact he is not consistently working, she has no doubt that he earns a substantial amount more than she does. Writing in the documents, she says: "I am not yet sure of his income, but I am sure it is more than mine".

In an emotional interview with Inside Edition, Melissa said that she was "in shock" when she was asked how she felt about being ditched by her man: "I didn't really know what to do" she said.

It remains to be seen what the outcome of the divorce will be, but no doubt it will carry on to be done out in the open which will help Meeks stay in the public eye, and therefore help his career.
