Jennifer Lawrence reveals she wants to meet Donald Trump and knows exactly how it would end
Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most bad-a** young women out there, using her influence to try and question what's wrong in the world and shake things up. The Oscar-winning actress is only 27-years-old, and just last week won the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award, becoming the youngest woman ever to receive the award that recognizes individuals who have been pioneers and positive philanthropic leaders in their industry.
And now, she's done it again. During an interview with another power-woman (and fellow past winner of the award), Oprah Winfrey, the actress mentioned her frustration with politics at the moment and even had some rather... controversial words about President Donald Trump himself.
Lawrence spoke about her "political passion" and how it has recently turned into "an obsession" in the interview for the Hollywood Reporter.
"I mean, I don't think you ever do feel settled, [but] as soon as you feel settled with your home and your personal life, you're looking at the world and going, 'How in the hell do I fix this? What do we do?'"
Oprah then asked the young star if she'd ever met president Trump, to which she replied, "No, never", prompting the question if she would ever like to meet him. Lawrence replied, "I think so", and it looks like she knows exactly how she would like things played out.
"I've got a pretty good speech," she said, before adding, "And it ends with a martini to the face."
Laughing, it's clear the actress would love to give him her piece of mind. Lawrence, of course, is known for her hilariously outspoken nature and her intolerance to stand idly by and watch things she doesn't agree with happen. Splashing the gin and vermouth cocktail over the president, and bopping him on the forehead with the olive, is something she's clearly been fantasizing about.
Oprah pressed on, asking: "If that moment comes, you would be prepared?"
"Oh, I would, definitely. Oh, my God, I've been waiting for this moment. I'll give you a hint — it's not nice. You wouldn't want me to say it to you."
And the actress isn't all words. She's vowed to channel her "political frustration" through the anti-corruption organisation Represent. Us of for which she is on the board of directors, and she hopes to do campus tours to speak with high schoolers and college students. Lawrence even expressed interest in pushing to pass a number of laws against government corruption, as well as one that helps "celebrity parents be able to take their kids to places without having to worry about paparazzi".
While Trump didn't comment on the young actress's remark, Donald Trump Jr did have something (rather puzzling) to say on Twitter.
Some people have taken to Lawrence's martini remark with criticism, choosing to point out her damning comments about Trump in comparison to her words about Harvey Weinstein in the same interview, where she told Oprah he was a "paternal" figure to her. Yet, these people left out the context of her remark. Lawrence said before all the allegations came out, she knew Weinstein was a bit of a "brute" and sometimes an "a**hole", but never did she know he was accused of sexual harassment and assault on so many accounts.
"They are all horrible, and not one is more horrifying than the next," she told of hearing all the stories come out.
While her comments may come across as a little bit harsh – particularly for the humiliating picture they create of Trump – you can't say that this woman isn't doing good in the world. As much as she does shake (or stir) things up...
