Lourdes Leon - the daughter of pop icon Madonna - has made a splash after proudly flashing her armpit hair at her first-ever Met Gala.

The model, 24, wore a pink fuchsia Moschino by Jeremy Scott that included a bikini halter top and matching skirt, which were covered in sequins, PEOPLE reports.

The bold outfit was made even bolder by Leon's unshaven armpit hair, which she showed off with confidence on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (September 13).

The model attended the event after she appeared on the Vogue cover for September as part of its cover story "Generation America: The Models Changing an Industry."

"People think I'm this talentless rich kid who's had everything given to her, but I'm not," she told Vogue before explaining that she funded her college tuition personally and lives in the Bushwick, Brooklyn, not Hollywood.

Leon added that, while she is very much her own person, one thing that she does have in common with Madonna is a love of dancing.

"A teacher of mine made me understand movement in a whole new way," she said. "You're using your body to define the space around you - to change it. That's a very naked form of expression."

Lourdes, who was Madonna's first child with Carlos Leon, was revealed to be the face of Swarovski's new campaign after the Vogue cover, PEOPLE reports, which the brand says will "serve as a platform for representation of people from all cultures and orientations."

This year's met Gala came with the theme of celebrating the evolution of American fashion, titled In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.

Following last night's event, the exhibition will officially begin on September 18 and will run all the way through to September 5, 2022, with the aim of "[celebrating] The Costume Institute's 75th anniversary and explore a modern vocabulary of American fashion."

The exhibition is in two parts, and the second - titled In America: An Anthology of Fashion - will open on May 5, next year. It "will explore the development of American fashion by presenting narratives that relate to the complex and layered histories of those spaces."
