P!nk delivers brutal clapback to troll who criticised her Super Bowl national anthem performance

A lot of stuff went down at the Super Bowl yesterday. The Eagles defeated the Patriots in order to win the title for the first time ever, Justin Timberlake got upstaged by a 13-year-old who had no idea what to do when the singer tried to get him involved during the halftime show, and pretty much the entirety of Philadelphia took to the streets to drunkenly celebrate their victory.

Amongst all that, however, a few other things happened that not all of us were paying attention to. The car company Ram came under fire for using a voiceover of Martin Luther King's 'I Have A Dream' speech during their commercial, the Church of Scientology somehow invested in some airtime during one ad break and P!nk absolutely slayed the national anthem.

Or, at least, most people thought she did.

The 'So What' singer kicked off the show with her rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, hitting every note perfectly - even though she's been battling the flu for the last few days. Afterwards, she credited her performance to her fans and tweeted a selfie of her and her daughter with the caption, "All of your prayers and well wishes and candles got me through today. Thankyou so much for all the love and support. We [heart] you."

And, while she got a lot of love on Twitter for her message, she also - predictably - got a fair bit of hate, too.

One person who took a particular aversion to P!nk's performance was Twitter user @King_Sullivan, who tweeted to his 227 followers:

Unfortunately for him, the three-time Grammy Award winner stumbled across the tweet (though it's not clear how, seeing as @King_Sullivan didn't even tag her), and decided to call him out via a succinct but brutal quote tweet.

She clapped back:

Ok, so while "you just suck" and you have a "dirty couch" aren't the most sophisticated of comebacks, they're pretty much the perfect level for someone who says "Pink sucks and if you like her singing you’re dumb".

The hater then proceeded to admit that he hadn't even listened to her performance and just "had a hunch" that it was bad (which it wasn't). He said: "I didn’t even @ her. And for the record I didn’t even listen to her song before i tweeted that. I just had a hunch and apparently she had the same feeling after the performance."

He later added: "Yooo but how did pink know my couch is dirty?" - which seems sort of stupid seeing as he said her singing sucked without even listening to it.

If you wanted to decide for yourself whether or not the shade-tweeter (who has since changed his screen name to "Dirty Couch") was right, here's P!nk giving it all she's got during the National Anthem:

Considering she was sick, this was an outstanding performance. Forget the people giving her a hard time over her rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner: P!nk should be headlining the halftime show next year.
