'The Mountain' shares photos of his tiny girlfriend and they are absolutely amazing

Hafþór Julius Björnsson is not a man to be messed with. Most know him from playing Gregor Clegane, aka 'The Mountain', on HBO's hit show Game of Thrones, but his feats of strength extend further than his fearsome displays of violence and physical prowess as the fictional knight.

The Icelandic actor used to be a professional basketball player from 2004 to 2008, but soon after turned to the world of strength testing. He started up a career as a strongman, winning contests including Strongest Man in Iceland and Iceland's Strongest Viking. In 2011, he took part in World's Strongest Man, coming sixth, before making it to third in 2012, 2013, and 2015.

As if this wasn't enough, he also went into competition with Lithuania's Zydrunas Savickas, breaking the Guiness World Record for the 20-meter Fridge Carry. Last year he revealed the details of his diet and it was insane. This stupendously-tall man puts away 8.3 lbs of meats and vegetables each day, and that doesn't include the weight of the blueberries, avocados, strawberries and bananas.

At 6 foot 9 and 400 lbs, he makes quite an imposing figure, which lends well to his character on Game of Thrones. But seeing him alongside his girlfriend really puts things into perspective. He first met his girlfriend, Kelsey Henson, in Earls Kitchen + Bar in Alberta after she approached him to take a photo with The Mountain.

From then things developed into a fully-fledged relationship, as he invited Kelsey out to visit him in his home country. "I had the greatest time in Iceland this past week, met some awesome people and had some great experiences," she wrote on Instagram. "Thank you to @thorbjornsson for having me and introducing me to Iceland".

Seeing the two together, the size difference likely draws a few stares. Regardless, you have to admit that the two look adorable together.

Björnsson was cast as The Mountain for the fourth season of Game of Thrones back in 2013, and was the third person to depict the character after Conan Stevens and Ian Whyte. It was his first acting role, and he appeared in each subsequent season, seeing the character go through a great number of changes.

As the older brother of Sandor "The Hound" Clegane, he is a deadly warrior with tendency towards extreme violence. Supposedly killed numerous servants for irritating him, and some of his family members mysteriously disappearing, leaving him as the head of his house. After he killed fan-favorite character Oberyn Martell in a spectacularly gory fashion, fans have longed to see him meet his end.

When they were children, he held his brother's face to the fire for playing with one of his toys, scarring him for life, spurring a life-long rivalry between the two that is yet to be properly resolved. Seeing as he frequently comes to blows with his brother, many fans are holding out hope that the final season of the show will finally bring us 'Cleganebowl' when it returns in 2019.
