Conor McGregor has challenged Floyd Mayweather to a rematch

He was never going to bow out gracefully, was he? It's been just over two months since Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather went head-to-head in the highest grossing pay-per-view boxing match of all time, and now the Irish fighter has called for a rematch, but with some changes.

During a Q&A in Glasgow, McGregor said that while he is confident that he would beat Mayweather in a re-match under either fighting practice, his preference would for them to have an MMA fight. He also claimed that Mayweather had previously promised a rematch in the build-up to their fight, and that he said it would be under UFC rules.

The Crumlin-born UFC two weight champion has said that he would like to fight Mayweather again, however rather than facing him in a boxing ring, McGregor would like to take on the American in a UFC octagon.

Business Insider reports that he told the crowd:

"What sickens me is that the little motherfucker is retired now. If I had another go with him, under boxing rules, I'd get that win. He had to change his whole approach. With those lessons I learned, with another go around, I'd get it. He's 50-0 and getting on, I'm not calling him out. I'll sit back. We'll see how he gets on with this round of money. Maybe I'll get another call. Originally he was saying an MMA bout next. That's what he said before the fight."

"He did say an MMA fight. So if he wants to, let's f*cking do it. There's not a hope in hell... I'd like to see him come over to our side and have a knock. I earned their respect and put myself out there. Style over to my side and earn our respect now."

As well as firing shots at Mayweather, The Notorious was also quick to pick out his choice for future opponents in UFC, with the fighter calling out his former sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi. The two fighters have history, with Malignaggi breaking the fighting code by revealing McGregor's biggest weakness ahead of his fight with Mayweather, something the Irishman hasn't forgotten about.

"Paulie is talking enough shit, he's stuck for money, and looking for a fight," McGregor said. "He's talking about bitch, bringing bitch, well bring your bitch and fight in a real fight. That's where we're at... I'd like one of them to come over on our side.

"He's a fucking rat of a thing. If he wants, look, fuck... I've got the UFC title to defend. But if that little fool is stuck for money, maybe we could get him in for an MMA bout."

Despite the fact that neither fighter has responded to McGregor's challenges, it sounds like 2018 could have some seriously interesting fights on the horizon. I, for one, would love to see either Mayweather or Malignaggi go over to UFC and see how they get on. Although, it could be pretty embarrassing for them.
