Gal Gadot confirms Brett Ratner is out of Wonder Woman 2
It's not a good month for Hollywood producer and director Brett Ratner.
Six women accused him of sexual assault and misconduct, including actresses Natasha Henstridge and Olivia Munn. Henstridge says Ratner masturbated in front of her, then forced her to perform oral sex. Munn says he masturbated in front of her, too," and before I literally could even figure out where to escape or where to look, he ejaculated."
In a passionate Facebook post, actress Ellen Page described how Ratner abused her. She was only eighteen years old, at a cast and crew "meet and greet" for X-Men: The Last Stand. Ratner looked at an older actress, then pointed to Page and said, "You should fuck her to make her realize she's gay."
Then, actress Gal Gadot refused to come back for Wonder Woman 2 unless Brett Ratner was released from the project. (Ratner helped co-produce the first film through his production company, Rat-Pac Dune.) Now, she got her wish! Gadot officially confirms that Ratner is out, calling it "the right thing to."
On The Today Show, Gadot explained why she made her threat, presumably while deflecting bullets with her Bracelets of Submission:
"Everyone knows the way that I feel because I’m not hiding anything. The truth is, there’s so many people involved in making this movie, it’s not just me, and they all echoed the same sentiments. Everyone knew what was the right thing to do."
Gadot has prevously expressed her support for victims of sexual harassment on social media, threatening all bullies with The Lasso Of Truth:
"Bullying and Sexual Harassment Is Unacceptable! I stand by all the courageous women confronting their fears and speaking out. Together we stand. We are all united for change."
Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins also expressed her support on Twitter. While she didn't notice any inappropriate behavior from Ratner, she stands with the victims:
“I’m extremely distressed to read these terrible allegations against Brett Ratner. When I spoke of Brett, I spoke of my own experiences with him, which were not these at all. I have never witnessed nor been aware of anything that is now being described.
To be very clear, I am definitely not okay with this kind of behavior. Sexual harassment and assault are NEVER okay and I stand with and defend all of the men and women who are revealing these horrific encounters all over this industry and this world. I hope their disclosures bring about real change for all of us, and I am deeply grateful to them for their bravery.”
In what was surely an awkward moment, Jenkins recently presented Ratner with an award, at the National Jewish Dinner. (What award? Best Masturbator? Most Perverted Director?) Gadot was originally scheduled to give him the award, but then was like, screw that noise, and hopped on her invisible jet back to Themyscira.
Ratner’s attorney, Martin Singer, “categorically” denies all these allegations. In fact, Ratner's suing one of his accusers - former marketing executive Melanie Kohler - for defamation. But the accusations keep coming. Last Sunday a model (who wishes to remain anonymous) told Page Six that Ratner masturbated in front of her, too, in 2008. (Wow. More people have seen Brett Ratner masturbate then Tower Heist.)
Sorry you won't be co-producing Wonder Woman 2, Brett Ratner. It just doesn't make sense for you to be involved, since Woman Woman is all about female empowerment. Maybe you could produce those cringy America Pie direct-to-video sequels? Or just switch to making porn? Or better yet, form a production company with Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey? I feel like you guys would get along.
