'The Incredibles 2' teaser trailer has finally arrived
Can you believe it was all the way back in 2004 that The Incredibles came out? Somehow it has been over a decade since we last saw the super-powered family on the big screen. In the time since they've been gone, the superhero genre now pretty much dominates the multiplexes, with the audience's appetite for the tights and capes not abating.
Yet a sequel to The Incredibles has been talked about for years now. The first movie ended with a possible hint at what's to come for the crime-fighting family, but it was the snippets we heard from the film's writer and director, Brad Bird, that suggested that more was to come. Apparently, he was just waiting for a plot that could match up to the Oscar-winning original.
All the way back in 2007 the director told ComingSoon: "If I can come up with a Toy Story 2 with The Incredibles, then I would do it in a second. I have pieces that I think are good, but I don't have them all together."
And then seven years later he told the Hollywood Reporter:
"I have been thinking about it. People think that I have not been, but I have. Because I love those characters and love that world."
"I am stroking my chin and scratching my head. I have many, many elements that I think would work really well in another Incredibles film, and if I can get 'em to click all together, I would probably wanna do that."
But now it seems as if the wait is nearly over, as they have now released a short teaser trailer to whet our appetites. Check it out below:
This clip goes right for what it knows we loved from the first: Jack-Jack. But the movie itself may offer even more. The official plot synopsis reads:
"Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in 'Incredibles 2' – but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of 'normal' life."
"It's a tough transistion for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.""
"It's fundamentally a story about family...with this new film, we're excited to jump back into that world," the director said at the Disney Animation Presentation at D23. "We have controls able to do so much more than before. The whole world of Incredibles 2 is gonna be greatly expanded upon."
The film is expected to hit theaters on June 15, 2018. That means we will hopefully be getting a full trailer for the movie sometime in the next few months. June 2018 can't come soon enough!
