Prince William and Prince Harry will both appear in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'

Star Wars has been a huge franchise since the 70s, but it has truly hit monumental levels by this point. Not only is there a trilogy hitting theaters, but we're getting spin-off movies set in the same universe every other year. After the prequel movies disappointed most fans, they really needed to pull off the series' return to the movies. Fortunately for everyone, Star Wars: The Force Awakens was a huge hit, and gave us returns of fan favourites as well as plenty of new likeable new characters.

Despite watching the movie a few times, one thing that I didn't notice until it was pointed out to me was Daniel Craig's cameo. If you missed it, the James Bond actor actually turned up as a stormtrooper in one scene. He was guarding Daisy Ridley's character Rey, but after she uses some Jedi mind tricks on him, he lets her go. Once you know it's him, his voice is pretty recognisable.

Now it seems that the next instalment in the saga, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, will feature two new guest stars: none other than Prince William and Prince Harry.

It has been rumoured for a little while after the princes visited the set of the production last year, but now it seems we have confirmation after one of the movie's stars, John Boyega, spilled the beans. In a recent interview on BBC Radio 4, in which he was talking about his new film Detroit, the actor spoke about their appearance:

"I've had enough with those secrets. They came on set. They were there. I'm sick of hiding it. I think it was leaked, anyway. There were images. Every time I get asked, I have to dodge it. I'm tired of dodging it. They were there. So was Tom Hardy."

It was already interesting, but now he's dropping in that Tom Hardy will appear too? Add this to the fact that Take That's Gary Barlow hinted he had filmed some scenes back in March, and it seems like they're upping the ante on the cameos this time around.

On top of this, Boyega gave some more details recently, including what role the princes will play in the film. During The Hollywood Reporter's Actor Roundtable the British actor explained that he had shared a scene with both the royals and Tom Hardy, featuring them "wrapped in Stormtroopers costumes" for a "strange contrast of a weird family".

THR also reported rumours they had heard from their own sources on set, who claimed that the two royals, Hardy and Barlow will appear as Stormtroopers in the same scene. They will be guarding Boyega's character Finn in an elevator, giving audiences a secretly star-studded sequence.

While you might expect this to nerve-racking for the actor, Boyega said it was more "fun" than intimidating. "It was a great experience," he continued, "You're a child. There's a new planet every day and a new scene to play. It makes you feel like you're a part of history in a sense."

We can hope to see how these cameos pan out in this movie when it hits on December 15. Fingers crossed it's as good as Daniel Craig's appearance.
