Harrison Ford's Halloween outfits will make you fall in love with him all over again
Is there any actor cooler than Harrison Ford? Honestly, I doubt it.
He's the undisputed hero of many a nerd around the world, renowned for playing the part of some of the biggest badasses in popular culture. Just think of some of the character's he's had the privilege of playing over the years: Han Solo in Star Wars, the eponymous adventure-archeologist in the Indiana Jones franchise, and finally futuristic private eye Rick Deckard in the neo-noir sci-fi movie Blade Runner, which had a sequel released this year where Ford starred alongside Ryan Gosling and Jared Leto.
In many ways Ford is the archetypal leading man: he's carelessly cool and charming, timelessly handsome, and has a razor-sharp dry wit. Hard to believe that he started off as little more than a carpenter on the set of A New Hope way back in 1977, before his blockbuster successes made him one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. Even at the ripe old age of 75, he's still finding new ways to surprise us.
Ford can often be quite taciturn and laconic in interviews, and needs the right kind of interviewer to bring out his softer, goofier side. He certainly can be silly when he wants to be, although not many people know it. As it turns out, what Ford really enjoys, when he's not piloting his own aircraft near his Wyoming ranch, is getting dressed up in an array of colourful costumes. He really isn't afraid to act dorky when the occasion demands.
It's coming up to Halloween: the time of year in which we all enjoy raiding costume stores and dressing up in all manner of weird outfits, and it seems that Harrison Ford is no exception. Last week, Twitter-user laura olin shared a couple of images of Ford in a number of weird guises that made him look almost unrecognisable.
1. Frumpy pensioners
2. Mother Theresa
3. Glam rocker
4. Peas in a pod
Ford also made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel's talk show where he was dressed bizarrely as a hot dog to promote the Force Awakens, while Kimmel was dressed as a drag queen version of Princess Leia. You can check out one of the weirdest interviews ever in the video below:
But how does he feel about slipping back into an old costume after more than 25 years; namely Rick Deckard's costume? In a recent interview promoting the movie, Ford stated: "I think it's kind of fun to play a character thirty years later. It's like trying on old clothes, and happily they still fit."
But Harrison Ford isn't the only person who's exhibited an unlikely love of costumes and dressing up. Check out these 25 pregnant mothers who managed to win Halloween with their amazing costumes. Trust me: some of them truly are unbelievable.
