Man spends two years removing glasses tattooed on his face after bachelor party

What do bachelor parties bring to mind for you? The majority of us immediately conjure up an image of debauchery; replete with dangerous amounts of booze, endless partying and a wicked hangover to tie it all together nicely. However, you don't voluntarily enter into such an endeavour without being aware that you've committed to destroying your body with alcohol, and consequently wasting eye-watering amounts of your hard-earned cash. In fact, for some bizarre reason, it's actually considered to be "fun" - that is, until you're confined to bed the following morning, regretting the past three days and your whole existence up until that point.

But while most of us come out of a bachelor party with a mild case of alcohol poisoning and a major case of the blues, it's safe to say that the majority of us don't tend to wake up with a pair of glasses tattooed on our face after a few days of revelry.

But this was the unfortunate reality of one man from South Wales, who has spent the past two years trying to get the tat removed.

A man, who has chosen to remain anonymous, woke up the day after a bachelor party in Blackpool with a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses tattooed onto his face. When the Welsh citizen looked at his face after the big night out, he just assumed that his friends had drawn on his face with marker pen, but when he tried to wash the etchings off, he quickly realised that they were permanent.

He has spent the past two years undergoing expensive laser treatments to remove the fake sunglasses from his face.

The 50-something elaborated to the Daily Mail, "I had no memory of getting the tattoo because I had gone out celebrating and it happened when I was drunk":

"Waking up the morning after, I thought someone had used a permanent marker on my face. When I first came home, obviously I was subject to a lot of stares, but I kind of got used to the tattoo and decided not to get rid of it."

The tattoo was allegedly requested as a drunken dare by the man, and even included the name of the sunglasses brand, Ray-Ban. Whilst he initially decided that he'd live out his days with the eye-catching tat, the man quickly realised that he wasn't ready to garner quite so much attention:
"The next morning I really started to think about what my family and friends thought. I didn't want them to be embarrassed when they were out with me, so I decided there and then I was going to get it removed."

The man has been visiting the 1192 Laser and Beauty Clinic in Swansea to have the tattoo removed. The owner of the clinic, Donnalee Alford, has since said that it's one of the worst tattoo mistakes that she has ever seen.

But great progress has been made. After having six treatments, the man has been left with some turquoise markings around his eyes, but these should clear up eventually, leaving him free of the embarrassing blunder.

Speaking about the process, the man said:

"All I can say is that the whole process was amazing [...] There is no scarring, and when friends who haven't seen me for months come over, they always notice something is different.

When they realise the tattoo is gone, they are shocked about how well the treatment has worked."

Well, this sure was a rather costly mistake. However, I'm sure that the man in question will think twice about attending a bachelor party now.
