As per the Metro, the colossal bet is believed to be the largest ever political wager at a private bookmakers on the Caribbean island of Curacao.

In an interview with The Sun, a source from the betting industry said: "Word of this bet has done the rounds and we think it's the biggest ever made on politics."

Many people are rushing to bet on today's election, The Sun continued, and gambling firm GVC said that bets are "twice as big as 2016, easily making it the biggest political event ever."

It is illegal to place political bets in the US, meaning that many are placing them overseas.

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has reported that 93% of bets made within the past 24 hours have been placed on Trump, however, there have also been some sizable bets placed on Democratic candidate Biden too

And per CNN, British bookmaker Betfair Exchange reported that an equally eye-watering sum of £1 million ($1.29 million) was placed on Biden this past weekend.

In addition, according to British gambling company Ladbrokes, three out of four bets placed on the US election have predicted a Trump win.

A spokeswoman told The Sun: "Biden looks home and hosed according to the bookies and pollsters, but even at the eleventh-hour punters are continuing to back Trump at the odds on offer."

However, while Trump might be receiving a lot of support in bookmakers, the latest odds on the election put rival Joe Biden ahead of the Republican candidate.

As per the Mirror, Donald Trump has not received more than 44% in some polls, and the former Vice President Biden has been in the lead for five months.

But once again, the election could be anyone's guess as Trump found himself in a similar situation ahead of the 2016 election, but he still managed to emerge victorious with 304-227 in the electoral vote.
