Grandpa inadvertently gives granddaughter's doll a horrifying makeover
There are some things that parents just don't understand. However much wisdom they have accumulated in their years on this planet, or however much effort they have put into making their children's lives as great as possible, there are simply some things that cannot be communicated from generation to generation.
I'm already finding myself confused and slightly irritated by the new trends and crazes amongst teenagers these days, and I'm not even a parent yet. I still don't actually know what a fidget spinner is and I'm not sure if I want to find out. I'm hitting my grumpy old man years pretty early, but I still can't really imagine what it's like to be completely out of touch with what the kids are up to these days.
You become even further removed once you become a grandparent, now with two generations between you and the interests of the kids of today. But, as long as you care about your grandchildren, you are going to do all that you can to connect with them, helping them out in ways you know they can't yet.
But sometimes even the best of intentions can go awry. Case in point: this grandad who just wanted to clean up his granddaughter's favourite doll. See, this is what her doll is supposed to look like:
But this grandad had the bright idea to clean up the doll with... white spirit.Y'know - the cleaning solvent you might use for cleaning tools, paint brushes, removing adhesives, or even as starter fluid for charcoal grills. There's a reason why "cleaning granddaughter's doll" isn't on that list.
You can see where he was coming from, but the results were truly horrific. It turns out most of the face is painted on, and the white spirit just took some of the features straight off the face. That means that he was left with a doll with no eyes. No doubt hoping his granddaughter wouldn't be too upset, he cut out some eyes from a magazine to stick on the doll, and things just got worse from there...
Beware, this might be the most messed up thing you've seen all week, and I know it will be plaguing my nightmares for some time to come.
Honestly, my first thought was that this was a real person wearing a terrifying mask of some kind. If there are any movie studios looking for the next big thing - just make a horror movie with the above monstrosity and you are guaranteed to scare the pants off anyone.
The original tweet went viral, getting over 13,000 retweets in the few days its been online. And of course, people had plenty to say about this mishap.
Picture seeing that face in the dark one night, when you're home alone. Who knew such a sweet gesture could turn into something so scary.
