Woman who suffered life threatening burns from a jealous wife shares miraculous recovery photos

Back in February 2012, Dana Vulin, from Perth, Australia, was the victim of a cowardly and disgusting revenge crime. At home with her dog on a regular weekday evening, Dana was attacked by Natalie Dimitrovska, who was wrongly convinced that her husband was having an affair with Dana. Natalie covered the Australian in methylated spirit and set her alight, leaving her to burn to her death.

However, Dana has since made an unbelievable recovery from the incident and in her book, she outlines what happened on the night itself, as well as the excruciating recovery process that she had to undertake.

"She doused me with the chemical, hitting my face, arms, chest, everything from the waist up," Dana recalled.

"The methylated spirits caught the naked flame in my hand and suddenly the whole world was on fire.

"The flames were everywhere: my shoulders, my naked stomach — only my boobs were protected by my tiny boob tube.

"The flames spread to my head, my hair went up in seconds, and when I reached up to wipe the burning chemicals off my face, my hands were already on fire."

"The pain was excruciating, but through my screaming, I could hear Natalie and Daniel making their escape through the sliding door," Dana wrote in her book.

"They were laughing at me while I burnt alive."

Dana managed to get to the sink and covered her body with water. She desperately screamed for help until a man who had been working out in the gym nearby heard her scream and came to her aid. Dana credits Denis Ericson with saving her life.

She was put in a coma for two days and since then the recovery process has been long and excruciatingly painful.

"There is no amount of anything that you know that can prepare you for this," she said.

"I slept sitting on a crucifix for two half years, with wrist splints, arm splints, elbow splints, palm splints, a mouth brace, a neck brace."

Dana said she had to endure painful physio sessions in order to regain a mobility and she was undergoing various surgeries to help her recover from her injuries. The 30-year-old had to wear a compression mask for two years and eight months, as well as wearing a garment for the rest of her body for three years.

"They've taken my right leg for skin four and a half full times, my left leg four times," she said.

"My groin is my neck, my hips and armpit and they shaved my entire skull to graft my entire face."

Dana says that she is now a walking advertisement as to what modern medicine can do, with her saying no one thought that she would physically recover to such a degree.

Dana says that her recovery is down to more than just doctors, she also credits her regained appearance to her own hard-work and determination.

"I've worked day and night. I've gone above and beyond,' she said, explaining she'd tried an array of extra treatments.

"You've got to do the work yourself.

"I've empowered myself," she went on. "I went and read and learned everything I could about burns and the skin's system and layers. I've tried everything."

It's an incredible transformation from Dana, who was literally left dying by Natalie. Her determination to pull through and continue with her life is more than admirable and she deserves all the plaudits and praise that she is receiving.
