Heartwarming video shows the moment 16-year-old boy gets accepted to Harvard
There are few times in life that are as tense as when you are waiting to see if you got into university or not. Whether you are opening an envelope or frantically refreshing a website, the anticipation is palpable, and the feeling of success is euphoric.
While this sensation is felt by the lucky few a little later in their teens, Ayrton Little managed it by the age of 16. The student, from TM Landry College Preparatory, a private school in Opelousas, Louisiana, was eagerly waiting to find out whether he would be granted an early admission into Harvard, where he would join the class of 2022.
This video captured the moment he found out the good news, as he and his fellow classmates exploded into celebration. He shared the clip on Twitter, along with a caption that read "All the hard work was worth it. I got accepted to Harvard at 16!". The clip has now gone viral, with over 400,000 likes and nearly 150,000 retweets.
You can watch the heartwarming clip below:
“I don’t know how to describe it, it was the best feeling,” Little told the Daily Mail. “It feels amazing. I plan to study applied maths and computer science. If I keep my grades up, I will attend in the fall.”
“I’m happy I got into Harvard, but I’m even happier because I’ve made my mother incredibly proud.”
You can hear his classmates shouting "three-peat", referencing the fact that this is the third time someone from their school has been accepted into the Ivy League school. What an amazing moment this must have been for Ayrton.
