Woman gets revenge on ex-boyfriend by dumping his $100,000 car in a pool
Break-ups are never happy occasions, and everybody has their own way of dealing with them. Some people turn to their friends, others go on extreme rebounds, and many prefer to get through it on their own terms.
Of course, some reactions to break-ups are a little more extreme than others - especially when the end of a relationship comes about unexpectedly. The trouble is, you never know how badly somebody is going to take the news until it actually happens.
Guy Gentile, a 41-year-old Wall Street banker, found this out the hard way when he returned home to find his $100,000 Mercedes S400 at the bottom of the pool in the backyard of his vacation home.
His (recent) ex-girlfriend, Kristina Kuchma, dumped the car after Gentile broke up with her over dinner while they were vacationing in the Bahamas. Admittedly, ending a relationship during a holiday is a pretty low move - but probably not one deserving of such extreme revenge.
However, Kuchma - a 24-year-old model - explains that her actions were motivated more by Gentile's broken promises than anything else. The wealthy banker had claimed that he would help finance her business, but instead broke off their union after Kuchma requested $50,000 from him to help her kickstart her marketing pursuits.
'Lier [sic],' she wrote in a text message to Gentile shortly after he ended their relationship. 'You told me you will help me to start a business! That were your words! Now you want to be an investor??? Well investor I have a surprise for you on a backyard, start with that investment idea first.'
Speaking to the New York Post, Gentile, who now works as an FBI informant after getting caught in a Wall Street "pump-and-dump" scheme a decade ago, says that his immediate concerns upon receiving the message were not about the car - but about Kuchma.
'My heart dropped because of [fears she was inside]. I didn't care about the car at that moment,' he said.
'But after I realized she wasn't in it, then I start to get pissed off that she would pull something like this after everything I've done for her.
'I dumped her. She dumped my car.'
Gentile also revealed that the snap decision to end the relationship came after Kuchma said she was 'pregnant'. The businessman told his girlfriend that he was more than willing to support their child, but then Kuchma abruptly interjected, saying, 'I’m not pregnant with a kid — I’m pregnant with an idea.'
She then proceeded to explain the funding she would need to start her own business, and asked for the money from Gentile as 'a gift'.
When it came to his response, Gentile recalled: 'I said, "You know what? You got the wrong guy. If you want a guy who’s going to hand you money for nothing, you got the wrong guy."' After which Kuchma threw tea in his face and stormed off with the keys to his Mercedes.
It took four hours to remove the car from the pool, and Kuchma has not yet commented on her actions.
'I really loved this girl and would have married her,' Gentile said, 'but she went too far!'
