Bill Cosby has been denied parole after refusing to take part in a therapy program for convicted sexual predators, MailOnline reports.

The disgraced actor had received a 3-10-year prison sentence in 2018 for aggravated indecent assault after he was convicted of drugging and raping former friend Andrea Constand at his home near Philadelphia in 2004.

After serving three years in Pennsylvania's SCI Phoenix, the 83-year-old was considered for parole. However, earlier this month, officials decided to reject his petition for parole, with documents - reviewed by MailOnline - detailing the reasons for this.

The first reason stated in the document was a failure to "participate in and complete additional institutional programs".

The decision was also influenced by "the negative recommendation made by the Department of Corrections [and Cosby's] failure to develop a parole release plan."

The denial of parole will be reconsidered "upon completion of programming as indicated by recent doc assessment."

Cosby will be considered for parole again if he completes the rehabilitation program for sex predators, if he receives a positive recommendation for parole from the Department of Corrections, and if he manages to maintain a clear conduct record.

Per MailOnline, Cosby's spokesman, Andrew Wyatt, has said the outcome of the review came as no surprise to his client, his friends, family, or lawyers.

Wyatt said: "It was brought to our attention by Mr. Cosby that over the past months, members of the PA State Parole Board had met with him and emphatically stated, 'If he did not participate in SVP (Sexually Violent Predator) courses that his parole would be denied.

"Mr. Cosby has vehemently proclaimed his innocence and continues to deny all allegations made against him as being false, without the sheer evidence or any proof."

Per Reuters, Wyatt went on to say that Cosby is doing reasonably well in prison. "He's hopeful," Wyatt said. "He’s cool as a cucumber."

In 2018, Cosby was found guilty on three counts of aggravated indecent assault for drugging and raping Andrea Constand in 2004. He was designated a sexually violent predator on September 25, 2018, after his conviction in April, according to Reuters.
