An exterminator got a huge surprise in a client's home after being called due to "little worms coming out of the wall," but found something completely different.

Let's be honest, nobody ever wants to be in a situation where an exterminator has to be called because it usually means living with some sort of pest problem.

Be it rats, termites, fleas, or something else entirely, it is not outrageous to not want to share a living space with unwelcome guests.

But sometimes it's unavoidable and a professional needs to be called in to handle a problem, but even those who earn a living from pest control can be surprised at what they find.

A homeowner in California phoned Nick Castro of Nick's Extreme Pest Control after finding "little worms coming out of the wall that looked like maggots."

What Nick would come to find shocked everybody, and he documented it on Facebook so the world could see what one little bird can accomplish.

After investigating the damage to the customer's wall, Nick was met with an avalanche of acorns that poured out onto the floor, which had been placed there by a woodpecker.

"Came across this on a job. Bird was a bit of a hoarder. Filled up about 8 garbage bags full of acorns weighing in about 700 lbs. Unreal never came across something like this," Nick explained on Facebook.

When questioned about how the bird had accomplished this, the exterminator commented: "The bird put acorns through chimney stack after making 100s of holes in wood siding surrounding it the he came through attic ventilation port holes. Acorns were piled from lower floor to about 20 ft up into attic."

Rather hilariously, it appears that the rogue woodpecker wasn't overly pleased with the stash being discovered, as Nick explained that it visited while the acorns were being removed and described it as "crazy."

It would appear that the woodpecker did some significant damage, with holes being found all over the house as the bird clearly decided that was his house instead of the people who lived there.

Naturally, people in the comments found it all quite amusing, with one person saying: "That woodpecker will be devastated. Worked so hard for this fortune and it's all gone. Like if a millionaire suddenly lost all the money he tirelessly worked for."

A second person added: "That was his uncle scrooge money vault. Bird was doing the back stroke in all those walnuts," and a third simply replied with a GIF of Scrat, the loveable acorn-obsessed saber-toothed squirrel from the Ice Age movie series.

We sure hope the woodpecker doesn't take this loss too hard...
