A British man has been sentenced to four years behind bars after he poked a hole in a condom before sex, an act which was branded as "pure evil" by his victim, according to court reports.

According to the Worcester News, Andrew Lewis's consent violation was discovered after his partner discovered a pin alongside condoms in a bedside drawer and an additional damaged condom in the trash.

"He told police he had hoped the condom would split and it would improve the intimacy," prosecutor Glyn Samuel said at Friday's sentencing of the 47-year-old at Worcester Crown Court.

"He said it was the stupidest thing he has ever done. In piercing the condom beforehand there was a degree of planning involved."

Lewis said that he had no intention of impregnating his partner, who remains anonymous, by interfering with the condom, but said that he hoped she would "change her mind" about the use of protection his defense attorney, Lynette McClement, said.

McClement said: "She had every right to choose her form of contraception. He had hoped it would tear, and as a result, she would change her mind. It is an unusual case."

The judge said that the 47-year-old was fortunate not to have got his unconsenting partner pregnant.

McClement said the train driver had previously been a man of good character and that he admitted his guilt from the offset in police interviews about the offense.

The paper reported that he was handed a four-year prison sentence in July after admitting to rape.

Judge Nicholas Cole described his actions as a "breach of trust" as sex was only consented to if a condom was used.

"The offense of rape is so serious, a custodial sentence is appropriate," Cole told Lewis, according to the report.
