Police in Derbyshire, England have confessed to being in "absolute shock" after finding 25 adults and children having a karaoke party amid the country's nationwide lockdown.

Officers found the large group at a home in Normanton over the weekend. The party was clearly in breach of new measures brought in by the government to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Taking to Twitter, the force explained: "Group 1 Officers have just attended an address in absolute shock to find 25 adults and children having a massive party with speakers and karaoke. Everyone dispersed and hosts dealt with."

"It is clear people are still having complete disregard for the Government advice and rules," it adds.

Included in the tweet was a photo of a large table covered in party food and karaoke equipment.

Per Yahoo!, the police broke up the party without taking any further action. The partygoers were strongly advised to adhere to the new guidelines.

Due to instances like these in which people brazenly defy the lockdown rules, it was revealed last week that Boris Johnson had written a letter sent to 30 million homes, which indicated that stricter lockdown rules could be put into place if necessary.

"You should not meet friends or relatives who do not live in your home," the letter reads. "You may only leave your home for very limited purposes, such as buying food and medicine, exercising once a day and seeking medical attention. You can travel to and from work but should work from home if you can.

"When you do have to leave your home, you should ensure, wherever possible, that you are two metres apart from anyone outside of your household.''

The Prime Minister then explains the government "will not hesitate to go further if that is what the scientific and medical advice tells us we must do."
