Incredible footage shows how Dan Bilzerian responded to the Vegas massacre
Dan Bilzerian is a man who heavily divides opinion. On one hand there are those who idolize him and his lifestyle of women, cars, money and guns. On the other hand, there are those who think he is something of a misogynistic and attention seeking pig, who is only wealthy due to the murky background of his father's hedge-funds.
Whatever your opinion of the poker star and self-dubbed "King of Instagram", the criticism aimed at him in light of his "reaction" to the Las Vegas massacre, has been nothing short of ridiculous; particularly when you see the new footage which has emerged.
Bilzerian was heavily criticized after footage emerged of him running away from the Las Vegas attack on Sunday, and it appears that the insults that were thrown his way were far too harsh. New footage has emerged of Dan, who is known for his love of guns, begging police officers to let him help take down Stephen Paddock, the man behind the horrifying attack.
In the video, he can be heard pleading with police officers, asking them to hand him a gun and assist in the operation. Unsurprisingly, the police refuse to do so, and appear annoyed at Bilzerian for even having the nerve to ask. The poker player seems to get his wallet out, presumably to show the policeman he has the right to use a gun, and can also be heard shouting "give me a gun!"
Check out the tense footage below.
Bilzerian had took to Snapchat and Instagram at the time of the attack, revealing the horror of the night in a couple of short videos. Multiple gunshots can be heard in the background of the videos, as the 38-year-old former marine runs away from the chaotic scenes. In the videos on his social media, Bilzerian can be heard shouting:
"Holy f***, this girl just got shot in the f****** head."
"This is so f****** crazy. I had to go grab a gun, I’m f***** heading back.
"It’s so crazy, some kind of mass shooting. Guy had a heavy calibre weapon for sure.
"Saw some girl get shot in the face right next to me, her brains f****** hanging out."
Many people, including War hero Dakota Meyer, were critical of Bilzerian's response, saying that he acts like a hard man on camera but the reality is much different:
"This is why children shouldn't classify heroes by their followers or their photos. @danbilzerian this is what kills me about people like you. Always playing "operator dress up" and so so tough when the cameras are on.
"A woman just got shot in the head and you are running away filming that's not what operators do. Please stop trying to be someone your not. People are dying, you're running away not helping them and pretending it's worthy of a video is disgusting."
Despite people thinking Dan fled the scene and never came back, it turns out the poker star was true to his word and did try to help out as much as he could. In the footage, it's clear to see that Bilzerian is trying to help, and although his attempts may be misguided and unrequired, it shows that she does have a heart.
Fair play to Dan for trying to help. It's easy to criticize people like him because of his portrayal on Instagram, but when the going got tough, Bilzerian tried to step up and help those in need.
