Rudy Giuliani has suffered another PR gaffe this week after appearing to accidentally leave his DMs open on Twitter.

Per The Independent, the news of the former Mayor of New York's mistake was seemingly highlighted to social media users by a Twitter-user from Richmond, Virginia, called Jennifer Christine Martin.

On Sunday (November 22), Martin noticed that it was possible to message the senior Trump campaign advisor on the social media platform. She then wrote to her 7,000 Twitter followers: "Rudy Giuliani's DMs are open, have a good time [sic]"

Giuliani's Twitter account was immediately bombarded with private messages from Twitter users who clearly relished the chance to mock the Republican lawyer, and took to the comments of Martin's tweet to share what they'd sent to him.

For instance, one person wrote:

"Dear Mr. Mayor: Please take a break. You did some great things over the course of your career.

"But in hitching yourself to the wagon of someone who simply uses you - and who has no regard for anyone other than himself - you've done profound damage to your reputation.

"An entire nation is vicariously embarassed for you, Your Honor. Do the right thing and step down from this utterly wrongheaded and dangerous crusade against reality."

Meanwhile, someone else wrote to him: "Rudy, you were [America's] now you are embarrassing yourself carrying [Trump's] baggage. Your performance in court was particularly bad. Come on man, make up some quarantine excuse and save yourself. This is your legacy now."

This incident comes not long after Giuliani provoked controversy by appearing in the Amazon prime movie Borat 2, in which he was filmed in a compromising position in a hotel room with an actress playing Borat's 15-year-old daughter, Tutar.

Sasha Baron Cohen subsequently took to social media in character as Borat to "defend" Rudy Giuliani's "innocent sexytime encounter" moments before a presidential debate.

In a tweet made on Wednesday, October 22, Giuliani categorically denied any wrongdoing, writing: "The Borat video is a complete fabrication. I was tucking in my shirt after taking off the recording equipment."

Giuliani also embarrassed himself again at a press conference held at the Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington DC.

While the cameras were trained on him, his hair dye appeared to start running, leaving him with a brown streak of sweat and dye stretching from the top of his ear to his chin, which was also noticed and lampooned by social media users.
