Hay fever sufferers are swearing by Vaseline to combat pollen misery

If you happen to suffer from hay fever - and in a pretty severe way - we might just have the perfect remedy for you (in the event that none of your other medicines have proved effective.)

All you have to do is apply a thin layer of Vaseline inside your nostrils as high as you can reach.

"Light coating around the inside of your nostrils, traps the pollen before it gets into your system," one hay fever sufferer who tried out the method explains. "Definitely first thing in the morning and keep re-applying as the day goes on. It really works.

Others who tried the remedy for themselves have been singing its praises on Twitter.

"Our nephew is very bad hayfever and allergic to our dogs, since we started doing the vaseline up the beak he has been sound, works 100% pal," one person wrote.

"Put Vaseline on the outside and the inside of your nose and on your eyelashes works wonders if you have hayfever I’m not walking around like a junkie now," another added.

"PEOPLE WHO SUFFER WITH HAYFEVER, PUT VASELINE IN YOUR NOSE AND ALONG YOUR EYES!! NO QUESTIONS ASKED JUST DO IT AND THANK ME LATER," a third chimed in.

Others, however, remained sceptical about the supposed healing powers of vaseline as far as alleviating symptoms of hay fever is concerned.

"I feel like that Vaseline trick for hayfever is one of them hoaxes to make people look silly," one user wrote. "Sort of like that myth that you can charge your iPhone in the microwave."
