Frances Bean Cobain has paid tribute to her father Kurt Cobain on the 30th anniversary of his death.
Cobain was the lead singer and guitarist of the ground-breaking band Nirvana, who rocketed to superstardom after releasing their hit song, 'Smells Like Teen Spirit.' However, the pressure of fame soon proved too much for the frontman.
The 27-year-old tragically died on April 5, 1994, in Seattle, Washington, but his body was not discovered until three days later by an electrician who came to his house to do some work.
Seattle police determined that the musician had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head - with the chief medical examiner disclosing that Cobain had only left a rehabilitation facility mere days prior, per the Mirror.
The father-of-one - who shared daughter Frances Bean Cobain with Hole singer Courtney Love - had a single gunshot to the head, and left a heartbreaking note that read: "The fact is I can't fool you. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it," as cited by The Independent.
On Friday (April 5), Cobain's 31-year-old daughter took to Instagram to share a somber post marking the 30th anniversary of her father's death.
"In the last 30 years my ideas around loss have been in a continuous state of metamorphosing," Frances Bean wrote. "The biggest lesson learned through grieving for almost as long as I’ve been conscious is that it serves a purpose. The duality of life & death, pain & joy, yin & yang, need to exist alongside each other or none of this would have any meaning."
"It is the impermanent nature of human existence which throws us into the depths of our most authentic lives. As It turns out, there is no greater motivation for leaning into loving awareness than knowing everything ends," she added.

Frances Bean shared a carousel of pictures that included a snap of her late father's hands (in the caption, she remembers her grandmother telling her "You have his hands") as well as photos of her as a baby with him, writing: "The last time we were together while he was still alive."
She heartfully penned that she wishes she knew him better, including his specific tastes, but is grateful for what she's learned through the long grieving process.
"But there is also deep wisdom being on an expedited path to understanding how precious life is," she said. "He gifted me a lesson in death that can only come through the LIVED experience of losing someone."
"It’s the gift of knowing for certain, when we love ourselves & those around us with compassion, with openness, with grace, the more meaningful our time here inherently becomes," she added.
The visual artists revealed that she held onto a toughing letter her father wrote to her before she was born, which reads: "Where you go or wherever I go, I will always be with you."
"He kept this promise because he is present in so many ways," she said. "Whether it’s by hearing a song or through the hands we share, in those moments I get to spend a little time with my dad & he feels transcendent."
Frances Bean concluded with a message for others who have lost a loved one: "To anyone who has wondered what it would’ve looked like to live alongside the people they have lost, I’m holding you in my thoughts today. The meaning of our grief is the same."
