Arnold Schwarzenegger is drop-kicked during an appearance in South Africa

Actor and former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger has been attacked in South Africa.

The incident took place at the Arnold Classic Africa, a sporting event, where the 71-year-old was kicked in the back.

According to The Sandton Chronicle, the actor was taking pictures with fans and signing autographs at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg when he was attacked.

In the clip, the man can be seen quickly being detained by security after assaulting Schwarzenegger, who left the center moments later.

After the incident, the actor had shared a clip of himself greeting fans at the events, captioned: "Make sure to tune into my Snapchat to see all 90 sports we have here at the Arnold Sports Africa! Fitness is for everyone."

The 71-year-old formed the Arnold Sports Festival, which the Arnold Classic Africa is a part of, back in 1989.
