The pair first met in May 2005, when Jennifer and then-husband Marc Anthony watched Alex' New York Yankees play the New York Mets. At the time, the MLB star was married as well, to psychology graduate Cynthia Scurtis, with whom he has two children.

About a decade later, both celebrities were divorced, and J-Lo spotted A-Rod outside a restaurant in Beverly Hills. "I almost yelled out 'Alex', but I am the shyest person when it comes to things like that," she told Vanity Fair in October. "I could literally have just walked away but I walk over and tap him on the shoulder and say 'Hey'... It was just one of those things where you feel compelled to do, something you wouldn’t normally do."

In the image, the 43-year-old former Yankees player kneels down on a beach in the Bahamas, while the 49-year-old music icon covers her mouth in shock. The caption simply reads, "3.9.19," the date of the proposal, last Saturday.
