If you thought beauty trends couldn't get any weirder than 'live ant manicures,' think again. Today two of the biggest tastemakers on social media, Kim Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen, posted some freaky photos on Instagram Stories. Instead of flaunting their latest stylish outfit, they showed off what appear to be extreme body modification implants.

In case you're not familiar, body modification refers to the altering of human anatomy for self-expression. This includes tattooed eyeballs, stretched piercings, subdermal implants, tongue splitting, tooth sharpening and other procedures that would give your parents a heart attack. For some, it's as minimal as a nose ring. For others, it's as extreme as transforming into an animal.

Now, Kim and Chrissy are just wearing temporary prosthetics, but still, their followers must have been surprised. Kim posted a video to Instagram Stories, rocking a thick chain-like choker that appears to be submerged in her skin. "It moves to the rhythm of my heartbeat," says the beauty mogul, as if there's nothing weird about this. The temporary prosthetic glow flashes yellow, pulsating to the beat of her heart. At the end of the clip, she thanks A. Human, as if that is a well-known designer.

Meanwhile, Chrissy Teigen took to Instagram Stories to showcase her modification: giant angel wings sprouting up from her chest. You might find the fleshy feathers grotesque, but two-year-old Luna, playing in the background, is totally unfazed. Like Kim, Chrissy says, "Thank you, A. Human," with no explanation.

Queer Eye's Tan France also freaked out his Instagram followers. He modeled 'The Tudor' created by, you guessed it, A. Human. The modification is described as a living piece of jewelry made of ruffled skin and bioreactive crystals. In the comments, clinicallyhaylee asked, "How is Tan able to serve looks even while wearing a flesh eating sea creature around his neck?" He just is, clinicallyhaylee. He just is.

A. Human is an interactive art and entertainment exhibit coming to New York City in September. It's intended to raise questions about the future of fashion as it relates to beauty standards and body modification. In the future, will we accessorize our bodies like we currently accessorize our clothing? When you visit the collection, you can contemplate these deep questions, or just walk around, giggling at the wearable art, saying "For weird!" (Those nautilus sea shell heels are kinda dope though.)

The man behind this theatrical exhibit is Kim Kardashian's friend, Simon Huck, owner of Command PR. In a press release, he said, "It was important to root this experience in optimism while provoking our guests to think about a potential future of fashion, and by doing so, inviting them to question their definitions of self-expression." (And it's important to use celebrities to promote your exhibit on social media!)

Tickets cost $40, and the A. Human exhibit is open for four weeks. However, the images will haunt your dreams forever.
