These days, if you're in the market for a bit of gossip, the place to go is Instagram. The Kardashians are always sharing their latest drama via IG stories, actors often go there to share sneak peaks from behind the scenes of their latest films, and - if Niki Minaj's latest antics are to be believed - it's apparently the best place to announce a new relationship.
In her latest post on the snap-sharing platform, the Super Bass rapper promoted a new single she's featuring on - YG's 'Big Bank' with Big Sean and 2 Chainz. During her verse, she can be heard saying: "Told em’ I met Slim Shady, bag the M / Once he go black, he’ll be back again," which many people took as a subtle hint that she was more than just a colleague to the Lose Yourself artist.
This prompted a fan to jump into the comments and ask, "You dating Eminem?"
And Minaj did not hesitate to confirm.
We shouldn't jump to conclusions just yet, though, as there is a chance that Minaj is just trolling everyone with her answer. Then again, she didn't really have a reason to lie - so why say anything at all?
However, it would be pretty uncharacteristic of the musician to be so straight-up about who she is or isn't dating, as much of her personal life was left up to rumor last year when word got out that she was (maybe) dating 44-year-old rapper, Nas.
The couple were thought to have started dating in the summer of last year, but their romance came to an end in January 2018 as the long-distance thing proved to be too much for them.
"They respect each other, and there won't be any trash talking - but, on the other hand, they won't be hanging out as friends either," a source said.
In May last year, the Anaconda rapper caused a stir when she declared that she was "celibate", had no interest in dating, and, most bizarrely, "hated men". However, at the time she did say in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres that she would consider pursuing something romantic with Nas.
"I'm just chillin' right now. I'm celibate. I wanted to go a year without dating any man. I hate men," she said. "I might make an exception to the rule for [Nas], because he's so dope."
Well, now that year is up and - even though Minaj might have broken her own rule by seeing Nas - she could be back on the dating scene now.
Who knows, perhaps this rumor could just be a clever tactic by Minaj to get people talking about her new hit (and, if that's the case, then it's working), but it could also be the truth. For now, though, I guess we'll just have to stick it out and see if their future collaborations go beyond the recording studio.
