Bodybuilder Christian Figueiredo's cause of death confirmed after death aged 29

Bodybuilder Christian Figueiredo's cause of death has been revealed after he tragically died at the age of 29 this week.

News of his death had been confirmed by his wife Vivi Torres, who paid tribute to the muscle-bound Brazilian on Instagram.

She shared an edited photo of him with angel wings as she reposted a message to her followers saying: "Sadly lost another GREAT WARRIOR @crisfigueiredopro."

The post added: "May God hold you in his arms, you were and always will be a CHAMPION, you will always be remembered by the generations that saw and know your story! My condolences to the whole family, God comfort everyone's hearts!!!"

According to reports from The Sun, Figueiredo died after suffering a stroke during an operation on his liver.

He tragically passed away after encountering complications during the surgery and was mourned by his loved ones and other members of the bodybuilding community.

Torres - who had been about to celebrate her 11th anniversary with Figueiredo - wrote on Instagram: "It will always be you! Forever. I love you and I will always love you.

"God took you close to Him, to a beautiful and safer place you deserve where he will give you tranquillity and peace."

She added that her husband taught her the "true meaning of marriage, partnership, and love", adding that any difficulties they encountered brought them closer.

"I only have good memories of you. I love you and I will always love you Mo. What a pain my God. Rest in peace my love," she wrote.

A friend of Figueiredo told Generation Iron: "It was supposed to be a pretty simple surgery but there were complications."

Fellow bodybuilder Ricardo Alexandre Martins Correia added that there was "nothing the doctors could do" to save Figueiredo, adding: "Chris needed the surgery but sadly had a stroke.

"They tried to prevent the bleeding from getting serious and then he had an unusual heart attack. The body went into shock. Sadly, there are things beyond our control.

"Life is like that, there are things out of our control. We lost a brother, a guy I will love forever."

Figueiredo was well-known in the bodybuilding community after earning his Pro card in 2022 during the Musclecontest in Brazil.

He was preparing to take on the IFBB in 2024.
