Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s teenage child had debuted their new name publicly for the first time and the internet couldn't be more thrilled.

The 15-year-old, who spoke at their grandfather’s memorial service last weekend at Christ Church United Methodist in Charleston, West Virginia, introduced themselves with their new name saying: "Hello my name is Fin Affleck," before going on to read a Bible verse: "Better is a little with righteousness, than a large income with injustice."

Fin, who was captured wearing a black suit and a smartly cropped hairdo, started by referring to themselves by the moniker they would like to be known as.

And many have commended them for doing so.

"Good for Fin for being brave and true to themselves. Love and support to the Affleck-Garner family," this user on X wrote, while another added: "We stand with FIN AFFLECK."

A third also stated: "fin affleck just told people what their name is, not what their gender identity or hypothetical transition plans are. leave them the f*** alone."

Others also hit back at those criticizing the teen for "making [their grandad's] funeral all about them," with this user quote-tweeting a article by the Daily Mail with the caption: "this is really nastily worded and leads people who havent read the article to believe that they made the funeral all about them and went all out about the trans thing - all they did was introduce themself before reading a bible verse. they just said hello my name is fin affleck."

The moment came during William Jack Garner’s funeral, which was live-streamed on Facebook following his death on April 1 aged 85.

Taking to Instagram, Garner posted a heartwarming tribute dedicated to her late father.

"My dad passed peacefully Saturday afternoon. We were with him, singing Amazing Grace as he left us (did we carry him across or scare him away - valid question.) While there is no tragedy in the death of an 85-year-old man who lived a healthy, wonderful life, I know grief is unavoidable, waiting around unexpected corners," she said alongside a series of photos of her father at various points in his life.

"We are grateful for Dad’s gentle demeanor and quiet strength," she continued. "For how he teased with a mischievous smile, and for the way he invented the role of all in, ever patient girl dad. We are grateful for his work ethic, leadership, and faith."

The actress then went on to thank all the medical professionals at Charleston Area Medical Center and City of Hope for their care and support during her father's final days before concluding: "There is so much to say about my dad - my sisters and I will never be done talking about how wonderful he was, so bear with us - but for today I share these memories with my appreciation for the kind and brilliant man, father, and grandfather he was, as well as the loving legacy he left behind."

Garner and Affleck also share two other children, their eldest, Violet Anne, 18, and youngest, Samuel, 11.
