Former MLB star's ex-wife breaks her silence on Alex Rodriguez/Jennifer Lopez cheating claims
When news broke that Alex Rodriguez had asked Jennifer Lopez to marry him, everything seemed like a fairytale.
However, the dreamy proposal was almost shattered into a million pieces when it was alleged by former Yankees star Jose Canseco that Alex had been cheating on J-Lo with Canseco's ex-wife, Jessica.
So, was Jenny from the Block's love story done for? Not if Jessica Canseco has anything to do with it! The author, who was married to Jose for three years in the 1990s, has finally broken her silence on the matter, blasting the rumours on social media.
The 46-year-old, who specifically re-downloaded the Twitter app in order to set the record straight about the infidelity talk, claimed that she was friendly with both Alex and his singer fiancée, but hadn't seen him for five years, and told her ex to "keep playing with his alien friends".
"Those false accusations Jose is making are not true," she wrote. "I have known Alex for many years and haven’t even seen him for over 5. I certainly did not sleep with him. I am friendly with both him and Jennifer. As for Jose he can keep playing with his Alien friends [sic]".
She added: "In fact I don’t even get on twitter had to download app again and don’t watch tv and had no idea any of this was going on. Last time I saw Alex he was with Torrie and I brought my boyfriend over for dinner. We are just friends my god [sic]".
The now-debunked scandal first broke on Monday when Canseco took to Twitter to write: "Watching World of Dance watching J.Lo text Alex Rodriguez little does she know that he is cheating on her with my ex-wife Jessica poor girl she has no idea who he really is".
The former star baseball player continued: "I was there a few months back with her when he called her on her phone... Alex Rodriguez stop being a piece of shit stop cheating on Jennifer Lopez".
He then, rather bizarrely added: "Alex Rodriguez I challenge you to a boxing match or an MMA match anytime you want".
The Love Don't Cost A Thing singer and her soon-to-be-husband have yet to comment on the rumours. But, chances are, they are too busy enjoying a blissful engagement period to care.
The couple first met when J-Lo and her then-husband Marc Anthony went to see Alex's former team the New York Yankees play the New York Mets in May 2005. At the time, the former baseball player was married to his ex-wife, Cynthia, who is the mother of his two children, Natasha and Ella.
Obviously, the timing wasn't quite right back then - but as fate would have it, they ran into each other again over 10 years later when J-Lo spotted Alex outside a restaurant in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.
"I almost yelled out 'Alex', but I am the shyest person when it comes to things like that," she told Vanity Fair. "I could literally have just walked away but I walk over and tap him on the shoulder and say 'Hey'... It was just one of those things where you feel compelled to do, something you wouldn’t normally do."
It's a good thing she went ahead and did it, because seconds later he was calling her "beautiful" and a few hours later he phoned to ask her out to dinner.
It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship, and ever since then, the two have been delighting us all with their loved-up antics; this including their family outings with their kids, their combined charity work on Hurricane Maria and the moment when Alex become an official Instagram boyfriend when he was caught snapping pics of his girlfriend on the VMA red carpet.
Congrats to the happy couple!
