When it comes to meeting your lifelong partner, there is a myriad of reasons that might bring the two of you together. It might something as simples as a mutual friend introducing you to each other, a dating app matching you with one another, or meeting a concert, covered in beer, sweat and other bodily fluids. Whatever the situation of how you met the love of your life, the majority people would say that it was fate.

Fate is something that you either strongly believe in or think is a load of rubbish. For many people, it's an unavoidable part of life and something that you have no control over whatsoever. It can show itself in the strangest of ways and the most peculiar of times - and that certainly seems to have been the case for this couple.

A couple who are set to get married next year had the shock of their lives when the husband-to-be spotted himself in the background of his fiancee's holiday pictures from 10 years ago.

Verona Koliqi and her fiance Mirand Buzaka were looking through her old family photos when they noticed something utterly bizarre in the background. Looking at a photo of her and her relatives on the beach, the couple noticed that a young Mirand could be seen floating around in the background on a yellow inflatable bed.

Talking about the surprising discovery, Verona said: "He said, 'Hold up, I think that's me! We both looked at each other and said, 'No way, that can't be true'."

"He noticed the kid in the back had the same shirt, shorts and floaty as him.

"We analysed further and confirmed with family members that it’s him photobombing my family photo."

"I never knew something like this could happen, even though I've heard a saying: 'You will have passed your soulmate at least once … before you actually meet up.'"

The couple didn't formally meet each other until years later, when Verona was visiting her home country of Kosovo from London. They got engaged a year later and they are set to be married soon.

Since Verona uploaded the photo to Instagram, it has gone on to get over 30,000 likes and thousands of comments from people all across the globe. The running theme seems to be that the couple meeting years down the line was fate and that they are clearly "meant to be."

One commenter, who had a similar story, said: "So cool! My boyfriend and I discovered that we were unknowingly were at the same small concert (which maybe 50 people attended) about 4 years before we met. It's wonderful and no coincidence."

It's a pretty incredible story and makes it difficult not to believe that fate plays a role in how we meet and interact with people. Who knows, maybe it was love at first sight and the world pulled together to bring the couple to each other when they were ready for it.
