With Easter just around the corner, it's about time to start planning what sort of chocolatey treats you want to get for your nearest and dearest.

Now, we know what you're thinking: why not get whatever's on offer at the supermarket? Or pick up something last minute from a garage on the way to someone's house? Well, we're here to tell you why in just three words: UNICORN. GIN. EGG.

Ok, so booze and chocolate probably isn't how the Christians initially expected us to be commemorating the crucifixion of Christ, but - hey - it's 2019, and what better way could there be to celebrate a holiday than by drinking spirits and indulging in a little (or a lot of) chocolate?

The eggs are the product of a collaboration between Zymurgorium, a Manchester-based distillery, and Slattery, a chocolatier. They come in two limited-edition flavours: unicorn gin (which apparently has a "toasted marshmallow" flavour), and flaGINgo - a fruity mix of mango, passion fruit, pineapple and ginger.

Both eggs have been carefully crafted to encompass a bottle of gin in the middle - something you certainly won't find on most supermarket shelves. Plus, they each consist of three types of chocolate: a conventional milk chocolate shell, topped with white and strawberry-flavoured chocolate to give it a pinky hue. This is then topped off with a pearlescent shimmer, just to make the egg look *extra* fancy.

Of course, being as extra special as they are, the eggs will set you back a tiny bit more than your typical Cadbury treat. The unicorn egg costs £49, while the flamingo version is a little steeper at £59.

Currently, they're only being sold at Selfridges in Manchester, but other products from Zymurgorium and Slattery can be ordered online.
