Nearly 21 years after her tragic passing, Princess Diana remains a massively celebrated figure amongst people of all ages and nations. Married to Prince Charles for 15 years from 1981 to 1996, Princess Di touched hearts the world over with her humanitarian work and donations to charities, and her loss is still keenly felt today.

In the intervening years, however, like a lot of incredible figures who were taken from us too soon, the general rhetoric has switched from one of mourning and sadness, slowly to more of a reminiscing nostalgia. More and more stories emerge about Princess Diana's kindness and her playful nature every day, and this from her former chef Darren McGrady just makes you want to love her even more.

When you picture Princess Diana, you usually picture her smiling for the cameras alongside her sons Prince William and Prince Harry, or showing her sensitive side when addressing a member of the public, but one place you usually don't picture her is the kitchen. According to McGrady, there's a good reason for that; apparently, Princess Di was a "terrible cook".

His words, not mine.

Speaking to Hello Magazine, McGrady opened up about Princess Diana, talking about her wicked sense of humour and how she went about her days in the kitchen. Apparently, though, she wasn't the greatest of cooks.

"The Princess was a terrible cook, she really was. I would actually leave food for her. I worked Monday to Friday and I'd leave food in the refrigerator for the weekend, like stuffed peppers, she loved those for a weekend lunch. I actually put cling film on with a little sticky note with a number two on it, and that told her to put it in the microwave and press two."

Well, I guess nobody's perfect, are they? Plus, with the rest of her royal duties, it's not difficult to imagine she didn't really have time to master the perfect omelette or anything like that. But that's not the end of the food-related shenanigans when it comes to Princess Diana.

It might not have always come across, but Princess Di had a wicked sense of humour, and McGrady reveals that she "loved embarrassing people in the nicest way". Two regular recipients of Diana's pranking were her two boys, William and Harry, and McGrady revealed how she left Prince William "bright-red" on his 13th birthday.

"I came into work that morning and went down to the refrigerator, opened the door and I was just confronted with the biggest pair of boobs I've ever seen in my life. The Princess had ordered a boobs cake for William's 13th birthday. I wish I'd taken a photograph of it!"

I don't know about you, but if my mum got me a cake resembling a pair of breasts for my 13th birthday (or even today), I think I would literally die of embarrassment. Still, it just goes to show how much of a hilarious, fun person that Princess Diana was when the cameras were off, and she's still greatly missed today.
