Cardi B arrested and charged over New York strip club fight
Cardi B was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors, assault and reckless endangerment, in connection with a fight at a strip club. (And no, this has nothing to do with her beef with Nicki Minaj, surprisingly.) The rapper surrendered to police Monday morning, had a mugshot taken, and was fingerprinted.
The incident took place in August. TMZ reports that Cardi allegedly attacked Jade and Baddie Gi, two bartenders at the Angels Strip Club in Queens. Sources say Cardi believes Jade slept with her husband, Offset. Offset's group, Migos, was performing at the strip club, and Cardi met the bartending sisters face-to-face. Allegedly Cardi told her posse to attack Jade and Baddie Gi with "bottles, chairs and a hookah smoking device." A source close to Cardi claims the attack was "spontaneous."
Apparently, Jade and Baddie Gi were hurt during the altercation, but refused medical attention. Joe Tacopina, the attorney for the victims, told TMZ, "[Cardi B] continues to threaten them and clearly thinks her celebrity status is going to get her out of this. But it doesn't matter if her name is Cardi B or Carl B ... if she commits violent assaults she will be brought to justice."
Cardi B is scheduled to be arraigned on October 29. She was photographed smiling as she left the police station, but did not respond to reporters' questions. However, her attorney, Jeff Kern, stated he was "aware of no evidence" that Cardi B "caused anybody any harm."
Last month, Cardi B tried to attack Nicki Minaj during an event at New York Fashion Week. The two rap stars collaborated on the Migos hit Motorsport, but have been throwing shade at each other for a while. At Harper's Bazaar Icon party, Cardi spotted Nicki, and lashed out. According to inside sources, Cardi thought Nicki said something disrespectful about her fitness to be a mother. (Cardi B and Offset have a two month old daughter, Kulture.)
Security guards intervened, preventing Cardi from touching Nicki. But the Bodak Yellow rapper kept trying to land a blow, and even chucked one of her shoes. She missed her target. Nicki stayed at the extravagant bash, while Cardi was escorted out the event, barefoot, with a ripped designer gown, and a big bump on her forehead. Apparently, one of the security guards accidentally elbowed her during the chaos.
On her Queen radio show, Nicki denied saying anything disrespectful about Cardi's fitness to be a mother. She went on to slam Cardi's raucous behavior, saying, "Get this woman some f***ing help. This woman is at the best stage of her career and she’s throwing bottles?... Who the f**k is gonna give her an intervention? You n****s don’t care until somebody’s f***ing dead.... This shit ain’t f***ing funny."
And the feud isn't over. Sources told TMZ that Cardi's been in the studio, making music with Nicki's ex-boyfriend, rapper Meek Mill. Hopefully she can keep her future fights on wax.
