Veritable wedding bells have been tolling across the internet ever since it was announced that Britain's most eligible bachelor, Prince Harry, is due to wed American actress, Meghan Markle, in the spring.

Understandably, the 36-year-old has since been the envy of people everywhere. I mean, being a princess would certainly have answered many of our childhood dreams - being a rite of passage right there next to Barbie dolls and all of the other effluvia of girlhood. But regardless of how dazzling tiaras are, and how beguiling the notion of being "royal" is, it's evident that carrying the crown isn't just one big game of dress up; rather, it's a job like any other.

As such, those who wish to take Markle's place may want to reconsider, as when she joins the royal family she will be forced to give up common liberties, many of which we take for granted - including our privacy.

Since it was announced that Suits actress Meghan Markle captivated the heart of Prince Harry, the internet has been desperately attempting to nosedive into the past of the 36-year-old, and find out everything about her failed romantic endeavors. And today, the maelstrom surrounding the impending nuptials has offered new information about Markle's first marriage, and in particular, how it ended.

According to royal biographer Andrew Morton's new book, Meghan, A Hollywood Princess, Markle left her former husband, Trevor Engelson, without any prior notice.

The actress purportedly broke the news in 2013 after two years of marriage. Morton wrote that "Trevor went from cherishing Meghan to, as one friend observed, 'feeling like he was a piece of something stuck to the bottom of her shoe'". Further, "A wealthy entrepreneur friend claimed the marriage ended so abruptly that Meghan sent her wedding and engagement rings back to Trevor by registered post. Another confirmed that the decision to end the marriage was made by Meghan and that it had come 'totally out of the blue.'"

Morton states that their marriage allegedly fell apart due to distance - as Markle's spent the majority of her time filing Suits in Toronto, and due to the fact that Trevor's career wasn't progressing as quickly as his wife's.

"While she saw her star rising, her husband’s career was treading water," Morton detailed. This only got worse, apparently, when Trevor attempted to take Markle on a romantic getaway. "With no new projects in sight and with Suits on hiatus, Trevor took Meghan on a cycling vacation to Vietnam. It didn’t help that he became sick with food poisoning. Their escape to exotic locales, which once provided a backdrop for their love, only served to highlight the distance between them," he continued.

Evidently, things did not end well between Meghan and Trevor, and reportedly he is still angry at his former wife, as Morton asserts, "even at a distance of five years, Trevor can barely contain his anger."
